I was just wondering how many hours is the trick or treating for your city? Last year we had 3 hours and this year only 2. Isn't that a bit short? I'm disappointed. So how long does yours go for?

At my mom's house we get one TOT'er a year and it's usually a teenage that rings the bell around 9 or 10. At my fiances house we had TOT from gosh probably 6-9/9:30. It was so nice to actually have some TOT'ers again!

I never kept track. But six hours????!!! Doesn't that seem a bit long?

Me and my brother use to trick or treat 'til midnight. We'd fill up our bags, head home, get rid of the candy and went back out for more. We use to spend a good 4-5-6 hours out there.

Well when I was a kid before my parents divorced my mom would take me trick or treating while my dad would stay home and pass out candy. I can't remember how long it was...but it was a lot of fun. After that, we lived out in the country and didn't get any trick or treating...so my mom would either take me to a nearby town...or else we'd just buy our own candy at the store.

Nowadays it's probably from about 6 to 9 as well. Back in my day though we'd stay out for at least 4 hours, if not more. We'd go so far that we couldn't figure out how to get back home. This was the late 80's, early 90's. Things seem to have changed around here quite a bit since then.

It must not be very popular around here then, considering it usually only lasts about an hour. Then again I live in a small town too...but the neighboring town...once considered a city...has a lot more people in it than where I live...

In my town, it's 3 pm to 7 pm, and it's very strictly enforced. The police ticket anyone caught trick or treating after 7 or before 3, and they aldo ticket the people giving out candy at those off times as well.
I have a funny story to tell that I'llpost to the funny trick or treat story thread.

I usualy just leave the main door opened, and just close the outter screan door so I can hear what's going on. A lot of parents take their kids TOTing in the car, so I often hear cars pull up.

That sucks. Trick or treating would not be the same in a car!

Last year it went on for about 2-3 hours, and it was pretty early. In my old neighbourhood there are a lot of little kids, so it's pretty short. Last year though, about 6 teenagers came to our door with no costumes and a day early!
