Back to Halloween man....I went to Alcatraz, and went into one of the cells that 'tourists' can go into...same eerie freakin' feeling. Your thoughts go immediately to the people that were there, and their thoughts.. Not quite the same (as they were there because of what they did) but still a crazy crazy feeling.

Mannequins and dolls freak me out. I'm better about it now then when I was a kid. When I was a kid I didn't own any dolls. I just had stuffed animals and Star Wars action figures. After a while, I could deal w/Barbie too. I actually collect dolls now, but they have to meet a particular criteria of non-creepiness before I'll consider them. The dark doesn't bother me, except for walking into things, but growing up I had to share a room with my mom who watched TV when she went to bed and had a night light in the room. Now I can't sleep if it's too dark or quiet. I got one of the noise machines. I now have a mini light string of jack-o-lanterns to light up. It's great when I need a fix.

For those who say they're afraid of whats in the ocean....It's different after the sun goes down!
When I lived in Miami, we would SCUBA dive down in the Florida Keys. Once we were diving at night off Islamorada and my underwater light went out. When that happens you're supposed to surface and wait for your dive buddy. I did and after about a minute I thought I felt him messing with my legs and trying to scare me. I just kicked really hard and of course looking down I couldn't see a thing the water was so dark. Just about that time he surfaced......about 50 yards away. He was yelling something but I couldn't make out what it was. We got back to the boat and he says....Didn't you see it? I said see what? He said when my light went out and I started heading back to the surface, a moray eel about 5 feet long followed me up and was swimming between my legs.

ScarecrowJack, there is definately something very creepy about any abandoned prison or insane asylum, because they were not just simply places of incarceration. More often then not, they were places of horible human suffering. Alkatraz, was notorious for the use of very long terms of incarceration in Solitary Confinement. For some inmates there, they were locked in the darkest and deepest dungeons that were left over from when the Alkatraz island was a military prison. There were beatings, torture, murders, failed escape attempts, insufferable boredom, and insanity as those in those dungeons were driven to that end by long terms of entombment in the dungeons.
Alkatraz would make for a GREAT 'haunted road trip.'
