I read recently that it's become more of an organized holiday, much like our 4th of July where we go see controlled displays of fireworks. The kids going around begging for a penny for the Guy has apparently disappeared completely. And yeah, the movie definitely gave the holiday a shot in the arm.

One of these years I would love to be in Salem Mass during October and on Halloween. I hear that town really swings during that time of the year.

The street around the corner from us has pretty much turned into a Halloween block party. So many houses decorate full-on, and cars drive in from other areas to witness it and participate. The street isn't blocked off, but any cars that pass through have to move very, very slowly, to avoid the TOTers and peer through all the fog-machine mist!

I want to visit all of those places at Halloween as well but for the time being, I can't abandon my own haunt. I'm still trying to keep things alive in my area. One of these days though...maybe I should get an apprentice

Well, with all the O T I'm putting in, I just might get to take a "haunted road trip" to Salem Mass this Summer. I would prefer to go in Oct, but unfortunately Oct is one of my busiest months. But there are plenty of great haunts in that area, and I will be taking the Harley if and when I go.

Man after hearing all of this Idaho SUCKS FOR HALLOWEEN. I THROW a big party. I usually try to find a quiet dark niebor hood and wonder around into listeniong to spooky music. after TOTers are done. I love that quiet feeling.

Why would you say that. I'm sure there are as many creepy places in Idaho as there are in any other state. Idaho is also primarely a rural community. I don't know where you live, but you might be able to start a tradition of having a Halloween Bonfire. If I lived out in the country that's what I would do.

A Halloween bonfire sounds brilliant!
One of our neighbors sits out around a patio brazier on Halloween night to give out treats. That's as close as we get to a bonfire around here.

Out at my brother's lake, we would burn 3 or 4 wooden pallettes at a time, and the flames would shoot up a good 20 or 30 feet. IT was awesome, but I can't do that in my yard in Dwight. The cops would throw me in jail, and it would be a very dangerous thing to do.

Oh, yeah, a fire like that would be dangerous in the city.
My daughter went to a bonfire last October with her church youth group, but it wasn't on Halloween night. And it was in the country.

We never had our Halloween bonfires on the actual Halloween day, but we would have them for a weekend in October. It was a great family time, and a lot of fabulous memories. Now a days, everyone's work schedule is too m uch of an issue, and especialy mine. October is my favorite month of the year but it is also one of my busiest for photo shoots.
