It's mid February and all I want to do is carve a bunch of pumpkins. I've already started thinking about what I'm going to carve when the time comes.
Is anyone else ready for grinnin' jack season?

I need to think of what to carve... now... while I still have time to draw it up. Besides that, that's all the thinking I've done on it.
Mostly, my mind is preoccupied with my birthday, next Thursday, which is being usurped by familyAGAIN. Grrr... I'm also thinking about taxes... and settling the motorbike accident (it's been almost a year. Double Grrr.)

I think the best part of carving pumpkins is the smell.

I totally agree about the smell. Love it. One of my favorite things.

I still have an uncarved pumpkin in my living room. Looks like it fell out of the pumpkin tree yesterday.

I wonder if it's still sound on the inside, Nevermore? Those things generally rot from the inside out.

I have to say that rotting pumpkins are on the list of things that give me the heaves.
One of my friends loves Medusa and he drew a picture of her to have turned into a tattoo. I think I may try to carve her on a pumpkin and surprise him with it.

Medusa would make a great jack-o-lantern design!

Thanks. I've kinda figured out the shading thing and gotten used to using the Dremel, so I think it could possibly make a very cool jack. If it does turn out well, I'll probably be bummed to part with it. But then again, I'm not the one with the weird crush on Medusa

Werewolf Hunter wrote: I want to paint black pumpkins and white pumpkins too before carving them! They do look so awesome!! I know that Michaels carries black and white artificial pumpkins as well as orange ones starting in late summer....wait a second... Hey Werewolf, are you stateside? Only reason I ask is because last fall a bunch of us were discussing artificial pumpkins from Michaels and I think it was our poor dear friend Jack Skellington (from England) who lamented not being able to buy them because they don't have that store there. I'm a big fan of the fake pumpkins. I feel like they can withstand more abuse when it comes time to carve. Not to mention I love that I can keep them forever. Several of my closets are pumpkin patches during the non-Halloween seasons

Roommate is planning on planting some pumpkin seeds this weekend. Seems to me it's a bit early but, hey... it's her show. Just have something for me to stab in October.
