Yes! I read the book and it looks to be pretty awesome. I don't like the sparkle plenty vamp, but the wolf pack is cool.

I read all the Twilight books a few years back, before the first movie came out. My daughter, who was a 6th grader at the time, fell on them pretty quickly and was briefly interested, but she's moved on now (9th grader). I wouldn't mind seeing this movie in the theater, but the likelihood is that I'll wait for the DVD. If my daughter won't go with me, I'd feel stupid going alone.
I think the Harry Potter books are infinitely better written, but the Twilight series does have the virtue of making you want to find out what happens next. I do think it gets weirder as it goes along. I am curious to see how they are going to handle the "impressing" thing on screen--where the wolves "impress" with the person who is to be their soul mate, or whatever. That was strange to read about and may be even odder to see.
I like the wolves better, too, Lillith. Even while reading the books, before I'd seen the actors, I thought Jacob was way more interesting than Edward. I could tell Bella was going to end up with the vampire guy, but the wolf guy was just a much better realized character, I thought.

Yes indeed Murfreesborough, I agree, he is a really good character. I was really happy at how Stephenie fleshed him out in the story.

She has said that she based Jacob on one of her brothers. I think that may be one reason why he is such a strong character, because he has a vitality and a roundedness that Edward lacks. Edward came from a dream she had, I think. He is more of a fantasy figure. Take away his obsession with Bella, and there really isn't anything to him.
Oh, and I should have said "imprinting" up above, where I said "impressing." I knew I wasn't getting the word quite right.

I TOOK MY BABY GIRL GINA TO SEE IT ON SATURDAY!!!
I BOUGHT THE TICKETS FOR ME AND HER THE DAY BEFORE ON FRIDAY!!!
WHEN WE WENT TO THE CAR BRENDA WAS SITTING IN THE FRONT SEAT AND SHE REFUSED TO MOVE TO THE BACK SEAT BECAUSE THERE WASN'T ENOUGH ROOM!!!
I TOLD HER SHE COULD LIE DOWN AND SHE COMPLAINED THAT SHE CAN'T LIFT HER FEET BECAUSE OF NERVE PROBLEMS FROM DIABEETUS.
GINA HAS DIABEETUS TOO AND I DIDN'T WANT HER TO BE UNCOMFORTABLE IN THE BACK SEAT SO I STARTED YELLING AT BRENDA TO GET OUT AND THEN GINA AND BRENDA STARTED ARGUING ABOUT WHO HAD DIABEETUS WORSE!!!
{{I DON'T THINK ANYONE SHOULD WANT TO HAVE A DISEASE WORSE}}
I TOLD BRENDA THAT SHE DIDN'T EVEN HAVE A TICKET AND SHE LOCKED THE CAR WITH MY MOTHER'S KEYS INSIDE!!!
I HAD TO GO GET MY MOTHER'S SECOND SET AND THEN BRENDA STARTED KICKING ME WHEN I STARTED PULLING HER OUT OF THE CAR.
SHE EVEN KICKED AT GINA WHO WAS JUST STANDING THERE!!!
WE GOT BRENDA OUT AND WE GOT IN THE CAR AND FINALLY WENT TO THE THEATER.
I WAS SO ANGRY ABOUT BRENDA AND I COULDN'T STOP BITCHING ABOUT IT, SO WHEN THE MOVIE CAME ON I REALLY COULDN'T ENJOY IT!!!
GINA AND I BOTH HAD A BAD TIME SO I THINK WE ARE GOING TO SEE IT AGAIN AND SEE IF OUR BETTER MOODS IMPROVE HOW WE FEEL ABOUT THE MOVIE!
WHEN WE GOT HOME THAT DAY I TOLD BRENDA ABOUT HOW SHE RUINED OUR DAY AND SHE STUCK UP HER MIDDLE FINGER AT ME!!!
