..this Halloween! Last year, my neighbors had a very small fire on their front porch due to an overturned candle-lit pumpkin. (Everyone was fine! Thank goodness their 2 year old son was out TOT'ing with his daddy!) After doing a bit of sleuthing, I found the next best thing to classic candles- The Amazing Rainbow Pumpkin Light! These are wicked effects for your haunted house, and safe for the little ones (and relatively inexpensive as well!):

Oh yes I have seen things like this before. The store that sells my dept 56 village has battery operated candles that are about the sive of a votive and have a slight flicker to them to give it a realistic look. I think it is a great thing to use for pumpkins

Wicked, those are an awesome concept, wow. I"ll keep my eyes open for similar type lights here, although I would only want ones that cause the orange glow, not the blue and green etc.
Thanks for sharing the link with us all
I purchased a strobe light thingy from a dollar store last year. It did not have the effect I thought it would I don't know why they call it a strobe. It just blinks and the battery died quickly. I had cheap batteries, but even still, they died out after an hour or so.
So just a heads up.

I use those rainbow things for spot lights. (I got a hack for them so you can mount them on a wall or ceiling and aim them where you please.) But for my pumpkin, I have a flicker cord, that makes a lightbulb flicker like a candle.
I'm also trying to create another type that is bright, yet gives the same flickering effect.
If you check out my website, (click my signature below) you'll find out how to convert the rainbow light to a wall or ceiling light source.
