None of these are really 'Halloween' recipes but then you only have to give them a creepy name and put them in a festive bowl, right? I drink them straight from the pot, because I'm classy like that.
Hot Cider Of course there are thousands of varieties...
1 quart apple cider 1/2 cup brown sugar 1-2 cinnamon sticks 8-12 whole cloves 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg 1 med orange
Stud the orange with the cloves. Add all ingredients in a saucepan. Heat slowly until the sugar dissolves then simmer covered for 10 minutes.
Wassail
1 1/2 quarts apple cider 3 cups cranberry juice 1/2 cup sugar 1 tbsp whole allspice 5 cinnamon sticks 2 oranges cloves (to taste) aromatic bitters (optional, maybe 1/4 tsp) 1-2 cups rum
Stud oranges with cloves. Add all ingredients except rum into pot and heat until sugar dissolves. Add rum right before serving.
Mulled Wine This could be blood?
1 cup water 1/2 cup sugar 1 sliced lemon 1 sliced orange 12 whole allspice berries 12 whole cloves 4 cinnamon sticks 1 bottle of wine (I like elderberry because it's already so sweet so you might want to cut down on the sugar)(it's not all that strong though)
Add all ingredients, except the wine, into a pot. Bring to a boil. Reduce head and simmer for 5 minutes. Add wine, do not boil. Simmer for about 10 minutes before serving.
It's sometimes easier to serve if you wrap cinnamon sticks, loose cloves and berries in cheese cloth while cooking. But it's not as pretty.

Hot (Pumpkin) Buttered Rum
1/2 lb brown sugar 1/2 lb powdered sugar 1/2 lb butter 1/8 tsp nutmeg 1/2 tsp cinnamon 1 pint pumpkin ice cream Cream together sugars and butter. Add in spices and ice cream, mix well. Freeze until needed. To use: place about a tablespoonful in a mug. Add hot water and a splash of rum, stir.
This can also be made with rum/raisin ice cream instead of the pumpkin for a different fall taste.

IRN-BRU1 bottle Irn-Bru 1 glass Open the bottle of Irn-Bru, being careful not to shake it up first. Pour into glass. Enjoy!

Actually I like plain apple cider, no spices added, and nice and cold. I was never much of a hot cider person. But I'd still drink it anyway, I just prefer it cold and fresh from the cider mill.

I like cider any kind of way, but man, I love it hot and spiced! I like the cider that has the pulp in it. Around here, you can buy the clear cider all year round, but the kind with the pulp we see only in the fall.

I like cider, but only when it's pronounced "sigh-daah"...!
