I've never tried that, but I hear it's the only way to do fried chicken.

let the chicken soak in buttermilk and a little bit of ground pepper for 12 hours then bake or fry as you would per your usual method.

I don't understand the chemistry that makes buttermilk-soaked chicken really tasty, but buttermilk on it's own taste like vomit, but why question a good thing, right?

maybe it has something to do with the acid in the buttermilk and the connective tissues in the chicken?

I have a rudimentary understanding of how acids work in the kitchen (especially Grace Slicks), but not connective tissues.

You can never have enough skulls. Well, I can never have enough, anyway. The buckys I bought a few years back I used for various props; the foam ones I bought I've used for fencepost toppers, and I keep expanding the fence, so I keep using up the skulls. I've been planning a lighted skull-stack for a few years, but haven't gotten around to it yet because I don't want to exhaust my limited supply. I also want to corpsify a few more. billig ed hardy bekleidungSo I was browsing the net, and I came across someone who was making a silicone mold of a rock using silicone caulk. Well, I'd love a flexible silicone mold, because I could cast plaster, cement, or spray foam (I'll do a latex layer first). So I bought a few tubes (has to be 100% silicone), ed hardy bekleidung and I'm working on a mold of a jawless Bucky skull to start. It seems to be working really well so far, and if it's successful I'll post steps and procedure. Maybe even take some pics while making a mold of a skull with a jaw

OK - first of all - I am SO excited to have found the forum...not many people understand when you tell them that you are working on your Halloween props in July and August! But I do agree - you can never have enough skulls. We have also had an issue finding affordable, mass quantaties of them. We are also looking for affordable spines (we convert our wine cellar to a "spine cellar" at Halloween) so if anyone knows where to get some of these, please post! My question is...about the buttermilk and moss...what kind of moss do you mix with it and where do you get it? Also, does rain and wind tend to wash if off of your skulls, gravestones and such? Thanks for the info guys!

Welcome, RomanOne! Your "spine-cellar" sounds interesting... Any pictures?? As for the moss, I probably should leave Andy to answer, but what I'll do is just dig up some moss from the back yard... I always have some growing around the base of a maple tree, or near the rain spouts. And I'd imagine that if you can get it to take to a porous cement skull, the rain would probably just help it grow rather than wash it away. I'll experiment a bit, then report back.

Correct about using moss you find around your yard or nearby, it's like the hippies and eating only local food, it's sustainable and good for the Earth, blah blah blah.
